Is This For You?
You might be right for this work
if any of this sounds familiar.
My clients are people who are done carrying things alone. They are often high-functioning, deeply feeling, and exhausted by the gap between how they appear and how they actually feel inside.
Book a Session →You know something from your childhood is affecting your adult life, but you can't quite name it
You keep attracting or staying in relationships that leave you feeling unseen
You've been the strong one for so long you've forgotten what it feels like to be held
You're in the diaspora and struggling to find a therapist who actually gets your cultural background
You and your partner love each other but keep having the same fight
You're ready to stop surviving and start living — on your own terms
You've tried therapy before and felt something was always slightly lost in translation
You want healing that understands Africa — the family systems, the cultural messaging, the specific weight you carry
The Foundation
What is Counselling Psychology?
Counselling psychology is a branch of psychology that focuses on how people function across different life stages — and how emotional, relational, and psychological difficulties get in the way of living fully.
Unlike a life coach or general counsellor, a counselling psychologist holds advanced training in psychological theory, human development, and therapeutic practice. This means our work together is not surface-level. We go to the root.
As a Licensed Counselling Psychologist, I am trained to work with a wide range of human experiences: from childhood wounds and relationship patterns, to grief, anxiety, identity, life transitions, and the quiet suffering that comes from growing up in environments that asked too much of you.

The African Lens
Most psychological frameworks
were not built for you.
I bring a different lens. One that doesn't require you to minimise your cultural experience to fit a Western template. This space was built with you in mind — on the continent and in the diaspora.
"Healing doesn't require you to abandon who you are. It asks you to come home to yourself."
What this lens understands
Love and neglect can exist in the same breath — and both can be true in the same African family
'Strong' is often a survival strategy, not a personality trait — and you deserve to put it down
Collective culture and individualism can create a painful internal conflict that Western therapy rarely addresses
Religious conditioning and community expectations are real psychological forces — not just background noise
Diaspora life carries its own particular grief: belonging nowhere fully, explaining yourself everywhere
Saying 'I need help' in many of our communities has historically come at a cost — and that cost was real
You do not have to translate yourself here.
How I Work
Eclectic by design.
Tailored to you.
I am an eclectic therapist — which means I don't follow a single rigid model. Instead, I draw from a range of well-established psychological frameworks and tailor my approach to what you bring into the room.
No two clients are the same. What stays constant is my commitment to going deep, working with the whole person, and grounding our work in an African cultural context that actually reflects your lived experience.
Psychodynamic Theory
The foundation of much of my work. We explore how early experiences, family dynamics, and unconscious patterns continue to shape who you are and how you relate to others today. Understanding where you came from is the first step to choosing who you become.
Attachment Theory
How we bonded (or didn't) with our caregivers in childhood creates a blueprint that follows us into every relationship we have as adults. Together we examine your attachment style and understand how it plays out in your relationships, your self-worth, and your emotional responses.
Narrative Therapy
You are not your diagnosis. You are not your trauma. Narrative therapy helps us examine the stories you were given about yourself — by your family, your culture, your community — and begin to separate who you truly are from the roles you were assigned.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples
When working with couples, I use EFT — one of the most evidence-based approaches for helping partners understand the emotional cycles keeping them stuck, rebuild secure connection, and communicate from a place of vulnerability rather than defensiveness.
Person-Centred Approach
Underneath all frameworks is a deep belief that you are the expert on your own life. My role is not to tell you who to be. It is to create a space safe enough for you to rediscover that for yourself.
What to Expect
Your first session
is just a conversation.
Before we even meet, I'll send you an intake form asking what's bringing you to therapy. Not because I'll read it and move on — but because what you write and what you actually say when we sit down together are often two very different things.
In our first session, I'll gently ask you: what was happening when you decided to book? That question grounds you in the present moment, and it opens the door for your real story to begin.
I'll introduce myself and explain what therapy is and how it works — especially if this is your first time. There's no assumption that you already know.
Our first conversation is not an interrogation. It's more like two people getting to know each other. Easy, human, and without pressure. The clinical depth comes — but not at the expense of you feeling seen first.

What I Work With
Your pain has a name.
And a path through it.
Below are the areas I work with most. If you see yourself here, you're in the right place.
Childhood Trauma
Emotional neglect, parentification, boarding school experiences, poverty trauma, religious conditioning — traced back to their source, not to live there, but to understand and finally release them.
Emotional Neglect
One of the most common and least talked-about wounds in African families. You may have been fed, clothed, educated — and still felt profoundly alone.
Attachment & Relationship Patterns
The way you learned to connect in childhood becomes the template for every relationship that follows. Understanding your attachment style is about finally understanding why you do what you do.
Parentification
When a child is made to carry adult emotional responsibilities. Parentified children often grow into adults who are hypercompetent, deeply responsible, and quietly resentful.
Mother-Daughter Wounds
One of the most formative bonds. When it is wounded, those wounds travel into every subsequent relationship. This is delicate, sacred work.
Anxiety & Depression
Usually the body's response to prolonged stress or unprocessed grief. We don't just manage symptoms — we look at what's underneath them.
Diaspora & Identity
Living between cultures is a particular kind of complexity. You may feel too African for where you live, and too westernised when you go home.
Couples Therapy
Using EFT, I help couples understand the emotional cycles keeping them stuck and rebuild the emotional safety that allows both partners to actually be known.
